Grant Title: Milwaukee County Transit Security Grant (2008) - Round 2

Description: This project is a continuation of a previous project that will place pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) surveillance cameras at high-density Milwaukee County Transit System transfer points. These cameras will be monitored and recorded twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by a Milwaukee police officer located in the Milwaukee Police Department dispatch center.

  • Application Due Date: December 30, 2009
  • Project Start Date: At time of Award (Approximately January 4, 2010.)
  • Project End Date: June 30, 2011
Anticipated Funding Amount: The total funding available is $120,505 with a grant performance period of approximately eighteen months.  Funding for this program is expected to continue in the future.

Match/Cost Sharing Requirement: None

Eligibility: The Milwaukee County Transit System is the only applicant eligible to apply.

Eligible Expenses: Funding may be used for the reimbursement of costs associated with the procurement and deployment of surveillance equipment as identified in the application.  All expenses must be new and cannot replace existing state or local government funding. Substitution of existing funds with federal grants (supplanting) will be the subject of monitoring and audit. Violations may result in a range of penalties, including suspension of current and future funds under this program, suspension or debarment from federal grants, repayment of monies provided under a grant, and civil and/or criminal penalties.
