OJA surveys Wisconsin's adult jails to obtain basic summary data about jail capacity, admissions, average length of confinement and daily population for the previous year.  A statewide statistical summary and analysis is then prepared by the Statistical Analysis Center. Most recent reports include: 

2003 Adult Jail Populations Report (PDF)

Summary report of Wisconsin adult jail populations confined to local correctional facilities between 2001 and 2003. Findings include a nearly 30 percent increase in statewide jail capacity from 13,753 in 2001 to 17,805 in 2003 and over 15 percent increase between 2002 and 2003. Inmate:staff ratios increased slightly from 4:1 in 2001 to 4.3:1 in 2003. 

 

2002 Adult Jail Populations Report (PDF)

Summary report of Wisconsin adult jail populations confined to local correctional facilities during 2002 with select comparison statistics for the previous ten years. Findings include a small increase (2.3 percent) in total adult admissions from 2001. The average daily population (ADP) increased by 2 percent from 2001, with a total ADP of 13,702 inmates per day statewide.
