The WIJIS Justice Gateway
Horizontal Line

In planning since 2001, and in development for just over a year, the Justice Gateway went live as an information sharing tool for law enforcement agencies that now gives over 2100 users the ability to search over 4.2 million incident and arrest reports to connect the dots across communities.

“The more places we have opportunities for [investigators] to find leads, the better.”

“As a 32-year police veteran I want to thank you and your staff for your contributions.  This system will really enhance law enforcement's ability to reduce crime.  Thanks again!”

One-Stop Searching.  The Justice Gateway provides a single point of access to search for suspect and contact information stored in local police records systems.

·       No Double Entry of Data.  WIJIS uses Global Justice xml (GJXML), the national standard for criminal justice data to make sharing happen automatically – and securely – with no extra data entry.

·       DA PROTECT Data. District Attorney records from 68 county DA offices are now available on the WIJIS Justice Gateway.

·       Local Control of Records.  Agencies choose what information will be shared and who can see it.

·       Everyone Can Join.  All criminal justice professionals in Wisconsin are eligible to use the Gateway, even if your agency is not yet sharing information.  There is no pay-to-play --you can start using the Gateway today!

·       Grant Funding Available.  OJA grants cover the cost of adding your data to the Gateway – find current grant information on the Find a Grant page of this website.

·       Get Connected.  The more you share information, the safer we’ll be.  Contact us to find out how you can begin sharing your records with other authorized Gateway users.

OJA sincerely thanks the WIJIS Pilot Agencies for all of their cooperation and participation in making the vision of statewide justice information sharing a reality:
