Information Exchange refers to the automatic, electronic transmittal of information from one computer system to another. Exchange projects typically model an existing paper process in electronic techonology that eliminates the need for reentry of data, and improves the accuracy and timeliness of case processing. WIJIS and its partners follow the Information Exchange Packet Documentation (IEPD) standard process, established by SEARCH and other national participants and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. IEPDs put the Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) to work by structuring it into specific document exchanges.
