WIJIS’ governance structure provides support and strategic guidance regarding the Gateway and other projects. Based on the Governor’s desire for coordination of information sharing between key justice organizations, governance is a collaborative effort between state and local agencies from all domains of the Wisconsin justice community.
The Policy Advisory Group (PAG), established by Executive Order, seeks to develop a collaborative, coordinated and cost effective approach to justice information sharing through its leadership and oversight of the WIJIS program. The Executive Director of the Office of Justice Assistance serves as chair, reflecting OJA’s leading role in facilitating collaboration among justice partners. WIJIS’ two key operational partners, the State CIO and the Department of Justice (which maintains the secure justice data center in which the Gateway will be housed), are represented. A Memorandum of Understanding among WIJIS, the CIO’s Office and the Department of Justice governs operations and maintenance of the Gateway. The PAG also includes members from the State Courts, the prosecutor community, local law enforcement and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
